3) 80 Hour Test for Alcohol: EtG Test

Yes, there really is an 80 hour test for alcohol. It is a urine screening procedure that employs a substance called Ethyl glucuronide (EtG).

“EtG: A Strong Indicator of Alcohol Consumption”

The detection of alcohol in the urine typically employs Ethyl glucuronide (EtG), a direct metabolite of ethanol alcohol. The presence of EtG in the urine is used to detect recent alcohol consumption, even after the ethanol alcohol is no longer detectable by other methods.

As a consequence, the existence of EtG in the urine is an authoritative indicator that alcohol has been ingested.
Traditional laboratory practices usually measure the amount of alcohol present in the body.

Depending on the amount of alcohol has been consumed, the traditional methodology typically reveals alcohol consumption that has taken place within the past few hours.

The presence of EtG in the urine, alternatively, demonstrates that ethanol alcohol was ingested within the past 3 or 4 days, or roughly 80 hours after the ethanol alcohol has been metabolized by the body. The Urine EtG test can be ordered with our without drug panel.

80 Hour Test for Alcohol: Conclusion:

It is this 80-hour period of time that has given this alcohol test the following name: the 80 hour test for alcohol.

As a result of the above facts, it can be determined that a urine alcohol test employing EtG is a more accurate indicator of the recent consumption of alcohol as opposed to simply measuring for the existence of ethanol alcohol.

The Hair EtG Alcohol Test will test if the donor is teetotaler, a social drinker or heavy drinker is.

THE COST OF ALCOHOL ABUSE

Alcohol abuse is a serious disease that is attributed to 79,000 deaths, 1.6 million hospitalizations and an economic loss of over $180 billion per year. The Hair Alcohol Abuse Test will definitively tell you if your client or employee is an abusive alcohol drinker. Through forensic science, it gives you the proof you might need in child custody cases, pre-hire decisions or just peace of mind.

This test is perfect for these groups:
* Attorneys: Prove your client is fit to have custody of children.
* Employers: Find out if your employees or potential new hires are abusing alcohol.
* Healthcare Professionals: Identify people with an alcohol addiction or measure the efficacy of an alcohol treatment program.
* Parents of Teenagers: Test your kids to be certain they are not abusing alcohol.

THE SCIENCE

Only hair will give a history. Blood is used for drivers who are actually intoxicated, but alcohol in blood decays at a rate of about one unit per hour, so it is lost quickly. However, while the blood is feeding the hair root, minute traces of alcohol metabolite become trapped in the hair providing an alcohol history, which we can detect. Basically, the more FAEEs, the more alcohol is consumed.

THE RESULTS

Your accurate results are analyzed by an accredited laboratory and are available in less than 2 weeks.

The results report gives you a “positive” or “negative” result for alcohol abuse and a numeric level of FAEE concentration, measured in nanograms (ng)/milligrams (mg). The positive or negative result on the report will indicate whether the donor consumes alcohol abusively.

The suggested indications of FAEE concentrations below 1.0 ng/mg are generalized alcohol consumption habits. Ethanol is present in all hair including those that abstain from alcohol, however these trace amounts are products of the environment. They do not correlate to alcohol which has been consumed and are considered the “baseline” for the test.
